Bienvenue à Turquant, Loire Valley!

Nestled between a limestone hill and the Loire river, Turquant charms visitors with its peaceful streets and bucolic scenery.

We are in the heart of the Saumurois and the area is dotted with vineyards.

Here and there an artist colony occupies man-made limestone caves dating back to ancient times. Troglodytic living is still a reality for locals whose homes are built inside the hill.

In Turquant one realizes the famous “douceur angevine” (the sweet life in the Anjou region) is not just a legend.

On a road trip through this enticing part of the Loire Valley I was fortunate to pick a few “petits bonheurs” (small joys) on a sunny April Sunday.

France's most democratic car - the legendary "2 CV" - has now become a tourist attraction in Paris and other French cities.

Word most commonly heard when one goes by: "So cuuuute!"

Those among us who were lucky enough to drive (or travel) in one recognize the sound of that engine coming up the street without even having to look back.

Trop mignonne. Trop "chou."
