Bienvenue

Bienvenue

Bienvenue chez Véronique. Call me Véro. All my friends do! After 23 years in the United States, I am back in Paris. In 2019, I continued sharing my French adventures on the blog and in social media and started a new career as a France-based tour guide, in Paris and beyond. Do you want to explore la Belle France with me? Join me daily on Facebook and Instagram. Follow my virtual tours in Paris on YouTube. Add your name to la Mailing List to hear about exclusive travel stories and new projects first. If you are into exclusive content and Live events, join my special community on Patreon. Thank you for your support as I take "France with Véro," (formerly French Girl in Seattle) to the next level. (Find all relevant links on the About page on this site.) A bientôt. See you soon, online... or in Paris!

Bonjour. Not all staycations are created equal. Bonjour.

Not all staycations are created equal.

Relaxing in my backyard, the Loire Valley, at a charming local château off many visitors’ radar.

No crowds.

I may just have to take readers there in the upcoming August newsletter.

Désolée. Must go. There’s more of the grounds to explore, and later, one or two (love) stories to tell…

Bonjour, Happy to report that as many businesses Bonjour,

Happy to report that as many businesses in France “mettent la clé sous la porte,” (shut down) in August, France with Véro will remain open.

Sort of.

Hours of operation, “période estivale:”

Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 7:00pm… “normalement.”Typically.

Business will be closed, “exceptionnellement” (exceptionally) at the following times: strolls along the Loire riverbanks, morning coffee sipped “en terrasse” at favorite local cafés, time spent catching up with friends, in person or online (if they still remember my name,) visits to local châteaux, exhibits or landmarks, preferably off the beaten path, lunches Al fresco, “apéros en terrasse” with friends (see above comment.)

Publications on social media will continue, but may slow down.

France with Vero patrons: You are the lucky ones, once again.

After enjoying honest (and humorous) behind-the-scenes peeks at my tour guide life since spring, I hope you’ve had a good time practicing your French listening skills this week with a new episode of “Véro’s Musings” (replay available to all patrons in the “Flâneur” tier and above.)

Mark your calendars and meet me on Saturday and/or on Sunday for two patron-only live events, including a new virtual tour in the Loire Valley.

See? Lucky. 🙂

For all general inquiries to France with Véro, expect longer response times.

This is, after all, August.

This (Americanized) small business owner remains, after all, a French native.

Bon week-end à tous! Bon mois d’août!

Bonjour,

These (cute) shoes are made for walkin’

They are still going to take a break over the next couple of weeks after 75 days on the road.

So long Paris, air-conditioned coaches, French roads and crowds!

I am going home in the morning and I can’t wait.

France with Véro patrons: Check your inbox and pick up your invites to TWO virtual events this weekend.

Not a patron yet? C’est dommage. There are more exclusive live events in the pipeline this month.

Café noisette, en terrasse.

Favorite way to start the day, at home or on the road.

Forget the “pursuit of Happiness.” I prefer to seize my “petits bonheurs” when they go by.

Bonjour. Coucher de soleil parisien. Parisian sun Bonjour.

There are still guidebooks out there who recommend skipping a Seine river cruise. “Too touristy,” they say.

Right.

What if one of the most romantic experiences in Paris involved precisely a boat gliding along the Seine?

Don’t believe me?

Bonjour, It was a Marais kind of day for our @ric Bonjour,

It was a Marais kind of day for our @ricksteveseurope group.

We strolled around the 4th arrondissement, peeling back layers of history and capturing Parisian street vibes.

We stopped at a neighborhood café and practiced ordering coffee, just like Parisians do.

Bonus: This small establishment comes with a great location and a beautiful “zinc” (countertop.) If you’ve enjoyed my musings for a while, you know how much I love these!

By noon, it was falafel time in the old Pletzl. While our group explored their options at local eateries, I headed to a favorite bistro where I’ve stopped often over the last few months.

What better place to enjoy a simple lunch served with a smile (while reviewing notes and making a few phone calls?)

Oui, décidément, the Marais, my old college neighborhood, is always a good idea.
